This page is about The Pinellas Park Kiwanis Club's annual fishing derby at Freedom Park Lake in beautiful Pinellas Park.

This event is always the first Saturday in June. This year the date is June 6, 2009. Rain date is the following Saturday June 13, 2009. The event is free to all children in Pinellas County. Registration for youth to age 12 is required. Many prizes are awarded and lots of snacks and drinks are furnished. I beleive that hot dogs are on the menu this year.

Fish and Wildlife will have fishing poles to use if needed and Wal-Mart will supply the bait at no charge.

Bring the kids, grand children or neighborhood kids for a nice day of fishing and having fun. Any questions please e-mail me.

This event is an exciting time for the members of our club. Our motto is "Serving the Children of the world." This is a fun event for the children and adults as summer arrives in Florida.

Here I am going to list the sponsers that join our club to make sure that this event is successful each year. Florida Fish and Game takes care of telling the boys and girls the rules and helps with fishing poles. They measure each fish, and sometimes take pictures of the "catch of the day."

I hope to have lots of pictures on this page. Here I will talk about the event and tell some of the things the kids have to say about fishing. Sometimes the kids say the darndest things.

I was in the hospitol on the Derby Day. I had Gary Thrasher take the pictures. Some great pictures here. Sorry no remarks from the kids this year.
